about us

MANIFESTO

We believe...

We believe that there are too many bottles of perfume and not enough soulful fragrances

We believe the soul of a fragrance comes from the intention with which it is created and the attention with which it is prepared

We believe fine perfumery must create a shock - the shock of the new, combined with the shock of the intimately familiar

We believe that fine perfumery must be irreverent

We believe it is more humane to test cosmetics on New Yorkers than on animals

We believe celebrities should pay full price

We believe the future of luxury (hence of perfumery) lies in craftsmanship

We believe in the soulful power of thoughtful hands: hand-picked roses, hand-poured candles, hand-formulated perfumes and handshake agreements

We believe in the passionate souls who work close to us

We believe in Hafiz's take on life : "Act great, dear. Always act great"

We believe New York made us this way, with a dose of Wabi-Sabi and a few lines from Thoreau

We believe we/you should put away our modern tools and take the time to smell the roses along the way

We believe that we are only young once, but we can be immature forever

And we believe that explanation kills art. Therefore, forget about all of this !

COMMUNITY AND CRAFT

A journey through the commune of craftswomen and craftsmen who contribute and shape Le Labo's world...

  • CONCRETE CANDLES

    Maine, United States

Each concrete vessel is molded in Maine from recycled stone dust and the wax is hand-poured in USA.

  • HOME DIFFUSER

    Brooklyn, New York

After decades surviving the elements of sun, wind, rain, and snow high above the city, the redwood that composes New York’s historic skyline water tanks has been reclaimed to make our Santal 26 home diffusers.

  • SANDALWOOD HARVEST

    Kimberley, Australia

A profound journey through the magnificent landscape of Kimberly, Australia, Edward, a sandalwood farmer teaches us how to dialogue with the trees and the land, inviting us to reflect on our relationship with Nature, and appreciate the way it awakens the senses.

  • ROSE HARVEST

    Grasse, France

Halfway between the mountain and the sea in the South of France, buds of the world’s most fragrant rose are preparing to open. The small town of Fayence, just outside of Grasse, is home to the Rosa centifolia, or Rose de Mai. This flower, whose rich and deep fragrance make it the world’s most sought-after rose is also the rarest and most difficult to harvest—it only blossoms once a year within a three-week window.

  • BERGAMOT HARVEST

    Reggio Calabria, Italy

A quiet look into the artisanal process of three families, whose lives revolve around bergamotto, a citrus fruit prized for its essential oil, and grown almost exclusively in the coastal province of Calabria, south of Italy.

  • NEON SIGNS

    NYC, New York

    Neon signage, handcrafted in NYC.

  • WAXED CANVAS APRONS

    Le Labo

Le Labo lab technicians wear waxed canvas aprons created in Brooklyn, New York.
